Zero waste.
Zero waste is an ambitious yet achievable concept. Zero waste is not just a term used for reducing our daily trash to nothing. Zero waste is a life cycle that needs to be generated from basic personal levels to a bigger community and other larger social levels. Achieving zero waste means no land fills to contaminate ground waters or breathable air. Luckily zero waste is not a dream any more, in the past 8 years we have witnessed many Asian and European countries reclaiming some of there largest landfills for human use. Zero waste is being considered as the ultimate solution to the enormous filth and trash problem our world is facing today. The three green R’s [Recycle, Reuse & Restore] are being considered as the magic ingredients for achieving zero waste. In order to achieve zero waste every one would need to look into there kitchen bins for organic materials. This planet is demanding us to look into our trash cans again for the metals that were dug out of its heart and the toxics that pollute its waters. Zero waste is a very conscious thought that tells us that it’s a small planet and there is not another like it to be taken for granted.
Zero waste is being planed by both public and government levels in developing and developed nations. Many consider zero waste as a social service to the humanity but in reality zero waste policies bring business and jobs to the communities that implement it. Recycling plants of all types, garbage collection services and many other occupations are born through zero waste policies that not only cleans out environment but also fulfill many of our need that other wise are hard to achieve.
Poor and developing nations are gaining a lot in terms of economical growth through recycling only if zero waste policies are implemented these business efforts will become more established and profitable. Next time when you peel an orange remember the orange skin can help mulch and grow many vegetables in your backyard.
