Open Loop Solar Water Heater.

Open loop solar water heater is common in the Southern United States and Tropical Climates. Open loop solar water heater system consists of solar collector installed on the roof and a hot water storage tank usually located in the garage or utility room. An open loop solar water heater consists of alternating current (A/C) pump that circulates the water from the tank up to the collector and back. The Open loop solar water heater system is referred to a direct because the sun’s heat is transferred through the collector directly to the potable water. No antifreeze solution or heat exchanger is required.
The Open loop solar water heater System utilizes a differential control to sense the temperature differences between water leaving the collector and the coldest water in the bottom of the storage tank. The control of an open loop solar water heater turns the pump on when the water in the collector is about 20F warmer than the water in the tank. Similarly, the pump is turned off when the temperature variation is approximately 5F. This process ensures that the water is always being heated while the pump is operating.
A thermally operated valve is in-stalled in an open loop solar water heater at the collector of an Open loop solar water heater to provide freeze protection where required. This valve will open to let warm water flow through the collector whenever temperatures approach freezing. As an alternative, the collector can be manually drained by closing the isolation valves and opening the drain valves of the Open loop solar water heater.

Madonna’s Sad Green Affairs.

Madonna plans on cleaning up the world with her Carbon Shackles.
Recently Madonna was the headliner on a Live Earth show from London’s Wembley Stadium. Where her interpretation of the word green means money, not the environment.
Madonna, has actually invested about $2.7 million dollars in companies that are creating the destruction that Live Earth is trying to raise awareness about. She has invested in several companies named as the biggest corporate polluters in the world.
Madonna’s Ray of Light Foundation owns blocks of shares in companies that are considered punishable and rehabilitatable for their attitudes toward global warming, climate control and basic pollution.
These Madonna companies include Alcoa, Ingersoll Rand, Weyerhaeuser, and several others associated with oil exploration, digging, and refining including British Petroleum, Schlumberger (a chief competitor of Halliburton), Devon Energy, Peabody Energy, Emerson Electric, Kimberly Clark and Weatherford International.
Madonna’s Ray of Light Foundation has stock in each of these companies. Her last published tax statement claims $4.2 million in corporate stock, and only $620,000 in donations to other charities including her pet project: the Kabbalah Center.
Madonna even has 175,000 shares of Ford Motor Company, which in 2005 — the last year for which Ray of Light Foundation’s tax form is available — had only one hybrid SUV in its fleet. Even now, but certainly then, Ford was/is not known as a green company. The only obvious thing Ford and Madonna have in common is Detroit — although it could be argued that only Ford has retained its Midwest accent.
Take Weyerhaeuser Corporation, a Madonna tree killing “forest products” company that is basically in the business of killing trees for paper and wood for housing. Madonna’s Weyerhaeuser is no friend of the green community. A story posted on the Rainforest Action Network details Weyerhaeuser’s ongoing fight with environmental activists who call the Seattle-based corporation “a bad investment” and “one of America’s worst environmental performers.”
Madonna’s investment in Alcoa, the Aluminum Company of America. Alcoa is under fire all over the world, especially in Iceland, for building aluminum smelters that some feel threaten the environment.
Madonna’s Ray of Light Foundation’s Schedule of Realized Gains and Losses is revealing in many ways. It shows that Madonna, while eager to espouse politically correct beliefs, simply does not put her money where her mouth is. The Ray of Light Foundation, for example, has only a few hundred shares of one media company: Viacom. Madonna didn’t even carry an investment in Warner Music Group, the company that releases her music. Madonna is simply a green mean bitch with a huge carbon foot print.

Utopic ! Clean Queen of the Sea.

Call it ship of the future - powered by the sun, wind and waves. The futuristic vessel has no conventional engines, uses no fossil fuels and releases no harmful emissions into the atmosphere or pollution into the sea.
The first ship to use the technology will be a cargo vessel that will transport up to 10,000 cars from Britain to Australia, New Zealand and other countries. If successful, it will be used on passenger ferries and cruise ships.
Wave energy is harnessed by 12 dolphin-like fins on the ship's hull, while sun and wind energy is collected by three giant, fin-like sails covered in solar panels.
The sails and fins will also help the ship to cruise at 15 knots, and stability will be provided by a slim monohull that will have two smaller support hulls, known as sponsons, on each side. Once harnessed, the sun, wind and wave energy will be combined with hydrogen and stored.
A spokesman for Wallenius Wilhelmsen, the ship's Scandinavian designers, said: "This will be the first truly environmentally friendly ship, protecting the atmosphere and marine species. It will transform ocean transport."

The international firm transports 160,000 cars a year, including Jaguars and BMWs, from Southampton to Australia, New Zealand and other countries.
The vessel will include a cargo deck the size of 14 football fields. It will be able to carry up to 10,000 cars in emission-free conditions.
At 250 metres long, it will be shorter than the Queen Mary 2 (345 metres) and the QE2 (293 metres), but more than three times the length of a Boeing 747 jumbo jet (70 metres).
The ship is called the E/S Orcelle after the orcelle dolphin - or the Irrawaddy dolphin, one of the world's most endangered species. E/S stands for "environmentally sound ship".
The ship's design means it will not need to carry ballast water, used to stabilise traditional vessels. The collection and disposal of ballast water has worried marine conservationists for years.
Many fragile species are collected inadvertently when a ship takes thousands of tonnes of water from the sea for ballast. When the water is emptied back into the ocean, often thousands of kilometres away in alien environments.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen will unveil a model of the E/S Orcelle at Expo, the world trade fair, in Aichi, Japan, next month.
The company's chief executive, Nils Dyvik, said a ship with some of the Orcelle's "environmentally friendly characteristics" could be launched within five years, but the "complete version" might not be crossing the oceans until 2025.
Mr Dyvik expected it would be more expensive than a conventional cargo ship, which costs up to $110 million.
Mr Dyvik said the E/S Orcelle "represents the achievable goal of a zero-emission cargo ship".

Solar LED street lights

Solar LED street lights! What, where, when and how are the questions that came along, with a lot of excitement after hearing about this innovative green idea. Jongoh Lee’s innovative solar led street lights are an idea out of a fairy tale that can create an ambiance of shadow and glow sprinkling out of trees to freckle the paths and pavements underneath. These leaves like solar led street lights are a great example of the fact that renewable energy can be extremely flexible. Humble and exciting solar led street lights are not screwed or fixed any where instead they coil around the tree branches in a charming manner consuming solar energy during the day and emitting light during the night as if the process of photosynthesis has been happening whole day long in these solar led street lights. After being awarded with IDEA, many are considering these solar led street lights as the green solution to the ugly path globs and pole mounted florescent street lights. Solar led street lights is not only an innovative environment friendly green idea but also the apple of many landscape designers now.
